…since moving to the area two and a half years ago, I’ve caught these beautiful creatures with my camera hundreds of times, but it’s generally been quick point and shoot on automatic, as they are very fast and cautious of getting too close…..they’re also mostly in the air when i see them…..yesterday, this one was sitting on the branch of this tree up on a ridge behind my place, so i got to shoot from my backyard. there are two breeding pairs living in the area, nesting up on the ridges, so we are very fortunate to see them often… to get more of a feel for this – look at the size of the 60ft tree against the bird, at this point in their life their wingspan is around 5-6ft – that’s around one and a half metres…so beautiful and aweinspiring,,,,
