Artist's Description

I caught this Palm Warbler singing in some thick tangles. It took me like six tries to find a large enough opening to get this guy clearly. Even with doing this, there were a lot of distracting elements with all the branches and some blurred areas. I really liked the clarity of the warbler itself though and figured setting him on a B&W background might do the trick. Now it seems like he just pops out of the image and I’m very happy with the result. :)

This was taken at Stewart Park in Ithaca NY.

The scientific name for this species is: Dendroica palmarum
