Pablo Beach

This section of Florida’s Atlantic coast was know as Pablo Beach from May 13, 1886 until the town here was given the current name Jacksonville Beach on June 15, 1925.

On February 24, 1921 this beach was the landing site for Lt. Wm. DeVoe Coney’s record breaking transcontinental flight from San Diego California.
Then on September 4, 1922 the beach was the site for departure as Jimmy Doolittle made his record breaking transcontinental flight to San Diego.
Lt. Coney’s record, 22 hours and 17 minutes, was beat by Lt. Doolittle’s flight, 21 hours and 19 minutes.
