Artist's Description

I captured this action shot from a video reenactment of the world wide flood recorded in the history of the book of Genesis.

The original ship was about 500 feet long with an 80 foot beam. From the keel to the deck it was 50 feet high (higher than a 3 story building). It had three interior deck levels for passengers and supplies for the year long journey.

The “sail” at the top of the screen is at the front of the ship; it acts like a weather vane to keep the craft aligned with the wind and therefore not being broadsided by the waves.

The flood violently covered the entire earth to a depth 25 feet above the highest land mass, and it took over a year for the waters to recede.

The video is part of the flood science exhibit at The Creation Museum in northern Kentucky.

Photographed in the summer of 2007 using my Konica-Minolta DiMage A2 DSLR camera. Set at ISO-200, f/3.5, 1/20 sec.

Not far from the Creation Museum (40 miles) a group is building a history themed park – Ark Encounter that will include a full size replica of the Ark.
