Artist's Description

Cape York Lily (Curcuma australasica) a native Australian ginger is bush tucker (food). The rhizomes are roasted by Aboriginals.

The beautiful iridescent mauve bracts top a bunch of small yellow flowers ringing the stalk.

The start of our curcuma forest, in our Jacksonville Florida USA garden, was a couple rhizomes from a friend. We have passed on new rhizomes to others.

aka: Aussie Plume Ginger.
