Queen Isabella

This statue sits in a small park called The Hispanic Garden in St. Augustine, Florida. The work’s proper title is “Queen Isabella Going Through The Land Of Her People,” and it was cast in 1961 when the sculptor was 89.

American artist Anna Hyatt Huntington (Mar 10, 1876 – Oct 4,1973) gave her sculpture to The Hispanic Garden as a gift for St. Augustine’s quadricentennial celebration in 1965.

(Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain provided the financial support for Christopher Columbus’ expedition to the new world.)
