Featured in THE WORLD AS WE SEE IT OR AS WE MISSED IT! on 13 September 2012
The background to this piece of artwork is Seilebost Beach on the Atlantic coast of the Isle of Harris, one of the largest islands in the Western Isles archipelago one afternoon in early June just before a storm broke. Fortunately we made it back to the car before the rain came down!
While reviewing this picture I took of my husband, it struck me that the scene reminded me of times in our lives when everything has gone wrong and where the only comfort was from our faith in Jesus Christ. Psalm 23 has always been my favourite Psalm, so I overlayed the picture with a quotation from it.
The words of the entire Psalm are:-
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. *Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."*(King James Version of the Holy Bible)
