A Mothers’ Day card made from sunlit scarlet primroses with sunshine-yellow centres growing in our garden in the North-East of England. They came into bloom just in time for Mothers’ Day!
Red and green were my Mother’s favourite colours, so she would have loved these little “bundles of sunshine”. Her favourite singer was Bing Crosby and I append a recording of his “You Are My Sunshine” (1941) in memory of my mother, who passed into the life beyond over a quarter of a century ago. I do not say “May she rest in peace”, because I know that she does. She was a devoted mother and nurse and had a very kind heart. I do not know which of the “many mansions” that Jesus spoke about, when describing the afterlife for the blessed, but I know that she will be in one of them. I just hope that I make it there myself!
