Artist's Description

These tiny little red mushrooms were found growing amongst tinier ferns and moss on a rainforest floor.

I believe these to be Mycena viscidocruenta, measuring around 8mm.

Mycena is a genus of small saprotrophic mushrooms which are rarely more than a few centimeters in width. They are characterized by a white spore print, a small conical or bell-shaped cap, and a thin fragile stem.

Macquarie Pass National Park, NSW, Australia.
