This large statue was found atop a grave at Waverley Cemetery in Sydney, Australia.
The white marble was carved during the late 1800s and is now partly covered with vines and moss.
The statue contains a number of symbolic carvings:
- Anchor – steadfast hope
- Finger pointing upward – the soul has gone to the heavens
- Five pointed star – the Epiphany or the star of Jesse or Jacob, heavenly wisdom
- Sheaf of wheat – longevity and fruitfulness. It denotes that one has lived a long and fruitful life.
