Artist's Description

I am sorry for the poor quality of this photo, of mine. I am going to have someone help me to fix it today, I hope. In the bottom picture, some poor smuck got a bit too excited, which resulted in being…. Well, just where you see him in the top photo. Of course, Deo, my grandfather always told me: “If you ever have to fight, and you will. Don’t quit until your enemy has no will, NOTHING left but pain and the fear that it will be his last.”

I found these photos shot on Feb. 21, 1941 when Dee had to be moved to assisted living. I always took my grandfather’s advice—gentle as he seems to so many, he knows that given the chance the other will put it in your back as you strut off—but it is amazing to see it in action like this. That referee looks about half scared that Dee may kick his ass, too. If I can get it fixed up, this will make a brilliant stitch. I just need to enlarge the bottom one. I had already done so to the first one. I did so when I first found it, so that everyone could have a copy. The bottom was found later. If you can see the determination on his face, by chance, that is the epitome of my grandfather. Perhaps too much so, as I watch him suffer so, now. You are looking at a REAL MAN.

I hope that hosts will forgive me for submitting this today. I will elide it and resubmit do so, when I have fixed it. People just need to know this man.
