Each year at about this time, along the east coast of mainland Australia, a number of things happen. The whales run. And the fish run. Here of the Gold Coast the Tailor come in after the bait-fish as they migrate north. Large Mullet also leave the streams where they normally live and migrate north. For decades, net fishermen like this chap have worked the mullet as they run north. Today was a quiet day, and here he was just after sunrise, on Coolangatta Beach waiting – but especially hopeful!
