During our Kid’s Photography Camp this term we created rainbow collages out of everyday objects.

The kids brought in their own objects, we set up lights and the backdrop and they had to shoot the objects.

Then each of them chose the images they wanted to use in the collage, edited them in Photoshop and then put the collage together.

How clever are they?!!

Opportunity to Exhibit

Over the next couple of months we have a variety of opportunities for artists and photographers:

Red Door Creative holds a Twilight Art Market once a month along with an Exhibition – there are limited tables available for artists to sell some of their smaller artworks (eg. Cards, jewelry, matted prints). The markets are a fabulous event with live music, art demonstrations and lots of laughter and fun. They are a great opportunity to network and meet new people.

Red Door also holds regular themed exhibitions and we are always looking for artists and photographers to exhibit their works.

Put the following dates in your diaries :

  1. Friday 16th -18th April : Live Youth Art & Photography Exhibition (open to children aged between 10 and 18)

Tutorial - Painting with Light

There a many different ways to photograph light trails and painting with light, the following tutorial is what worked for us at the Snapshots meet. You can also find this tutorial in the Red Door Creative Group you can also enter your awesome images in the Painting with Light Challenge.

There are two very different methods you can use when painting with light.

  1. Painting portions of the subject with diffuse light
Here you paint around your subject, or on your subject to expose desired parts (eg. Face), while ensuring that the torch faces away from the camera and directly towards the subject. You can get quite close to the subject for a more intense light, or move back for a softer light. This technique will give your object a beautiful glow.

  1. Creating light trails
In this technique you use th

Want to challenge yourself?

Each Thursday Daniel and I run Snapshots a Photography Club at Red Door Creative.

There have been many of you that have expressed your disappointment at being interstate or overseas and unable to join in the fun.

So, I put my thinking cap on and decided that we would write a tutorial each week outlining the skills we learnt in class – which I will post on my account as a journal.

Then a challenge will be run in the Red Door Creative Group – where you can all put up the best of your images from that particular theme, the winner will be the homepage image on the Red Door Creative Webpage for a week.

We will also be having an end of year exhibition where the best images of the year will be on display.

If you would like to learn some new skills, get the camera out of mothballs and have some

Calling for artists and photographers

Red Door Creative is currently calling for artists and photographers to exhibit or participate in our February art market and exhibition.…

Our December market was a raging success with many people coming through on the night. They all thoroughly enjoyed the live art demonstrations, watching a painting come to life and learning more about Hebel Sculptures, while Daniel Hopkins kept us entertained with his gorgeous music. It was a fantastic opportunity for the community to see artists at work.

This month’s theme is aimed at targeting Valentine’s Day.

  1. We currently have 3 tables available for the market – and are looking for unique, affordable art/items priced at less than $100 each.
  2. Tables fees are $50 per table with no commission taken from sales
