Artist's Description

On this frosty June morning (minus 3 degrees), just after sunrise, these kangaroos where looking quite amazed that any one with any sense would be wandering the streets of Hill End in NSW Australia. Maybe the young joey was saying “let me back in Mum, its cold”. A thick frost covered the ground and cast a beautiful light as the sun rose and filtered through the trees at the top of the hill above town. The kangaroos are free to roam the streets, paddocks and bushland of the township that is owned and managed by the National Parks who maintain and preserve the rich gold mining history of the area. This trip I found that a few more streets were sealed and there were new sign posts but nothing much else had changed since my last visit a little over 12 months ago. This time though the trees were bare but still beautiful in their own way.

Taken with the Nikon D700, Nikon 28-300 mm lens and hand held.
