Its so sad to see these old railway stations sitting so neglected. I always recall them as bustling places with people anxiously awaiting a train or the arrival of visitors. There would be the ticket seller, the platform staff, the cleaner and sometimes on larger stations the tea rooms and newsagents. Typical of this old railway station at Capertee in NSW Australia, there would have been beautiful gardens and maybe a taxi or two lined up outside. Now its locked up and abandoned although there is evidence that community groups have at some stage attempted at some stage to use the building. Today the line is used occasionally for coal haulage but the life of the passenger train, like so many Australian railways has become a thing of the past … sad!
