A Few Precious Moments at Brindabella
A Few Precious Moments at Brindabella This book is the result of sifting through paperwork at libraries, of lives and events that could slip away unnoticed. My aim is to discover why the magic of Brindabella has moulded me into who I am, and its importance to so many people who have known and loved the valley. My grandfather, W.P. Bluett features largely as he tells of his early life on a property near Wagga, and one almost chokes on the dust from the wheels of the Cobb & Co coaches galloping into town. Extracts of some letters to Dame Mary Gilmore are included. There are tales of various neighbours and a piece written by A.B. Patterson. One chapter deals with trips into the high country and features Bung Harris who was so well know in the Tumut district. I often consulted with Mrs Gwen Harrison, (Meredith) author of Blue Hills, and she was always so interested in the progress of this book, in fact it was both she and my youngest daughter who urged me to put these experiences into a book. Included is my childhood in the valley, school days, and years later several trips back to “Koorabri” with my children. Now I live near Tamworth, but Brindabella is constantly in my thoughts “A Few Precious Moments at Brindabella” is available on line at www.ginninderrapress.com.au
