Artist's Description

So I’ve been gone for about a week (June 2012) and the reason was – snap trip to Helsinki, Finland; and Tallinn, Estonia. Both are Eurozone countries, so not in any way backwards (I even kept up with my redbubble commitments!)

The largest church spire is of St Olaf’s which was actually the tallest structure in the world from the mid-1550s to early 1600s, with a main structure of some 70m in height and another 50m in the spire. Very impressive! The centre of the photo shows the medieval ‘old town’ and the buildings to the left are the more ‘modern’ high-rises.

This was my favourite photo from the Helsinki-Tallinn ferry’s approach to the Estonian Capital. It had only just stopped raining, I later learned.

The cloud formations and detail / silhouette are ‘real’, but the treatment is slightly “Super 8”-poster-esque. Because…. it kind of felt that way.
