The Blind man

The rickety old tram rolls, stutters, stops and starts,
With a repetetive rythm completely in keeping with this old city,
through which it cuts its steady path.
And each day, at the same place, the blind man steps on,
ever assisted by his old friend.
Yet as everyone struggles to find the rythm of this ancient exhibit on wheels,
hanging , leaning, stumbling and sometimes falling,
the blind man just stands.

His friend has no need in this place to assist, guide, or hold.
He knows his companion has the feel of the machine,
as the blind man just stands.
Head rolling in harmony with the memory of every inch of rusty rail,
like a true surfer riding mechanical waves towards a beach of uncertainty.
Where once more, his friend will show the way.
