Alone

On the blazing, barren mountain-scape
Amongst the dried brown grass,
Upon the parched land,
Stood deary and alone,
A poor old tree……

No leaves upon its tall branches,
No children playing around,
No birds singing along,
Deathly quiet and still,
The poor old tree…….

Does it not get tired and weary,
By standing tall all day long?
Nobody to fathom its beauty
No one to wipe its tears
The poor old tree……

Alone and insecure is thou not me said the smiling tree,
Tall, firm and handsome I stand, Solitary but sweet,
Majestic and fearless, Like the king of the jungle,
It is thou who thinks of loneliness
Just by the mere sight of me?
Sighed, the wise old tree…..
