the train of affection

In this long distanced love affair
Cupids arrow claws the air
Do you know what brought us together
Do these feelings last forever
There is another who pulls at my heart-string
I will tell you before you leave
Things may not be what they seem
In all this love
In all this life
In all these dreams
.
Could I have any more enlightened your eyes
We stall our pride in walks beneath the moon
Did you know before my heart took wing
Before I asked if you were mine
How could you know before our time
.
Where do you place me as we move on
Could I stand upon your threshold by mistake
We took this chance on oft’ repeated heartache
We two the same
How still we remain
.
Of late in primal thoughts of us I steal our wishes
Pastel seeded embracing on the border of engaging life
I recall now where and when this all began
My picture one of loneliness
Yet somehow not alone
.
Of all these lives I claim that ours might not have been
This pride of mine has always been delusional
In one wrong day it might have been swept away
This fortress locked inside
Sand and stone will always crumble
In all my years I never touched on soft or right
I could have been here well before
Beside this vice of independence
I should follow cheap surrender
Wash the light across my skin
Allow my heart to hear those chosen words
Set fate upon the wind
.
Climb aboard my weary son
Rest well
I will take you there
This cradle rock might glaze and ease those troublesome miles
By dawn your pining heart will sleep in smiles
.
Once or twice before I chose to abate my private nocturnal fantasies
On summers window in darkness that lone and distanced cry returns
Our journey was and always will be deep in heart
my answer rides the wind
Your gift to ease this load
The truth will soon begin
We share the longest road
.
_Starstruck venturer _
One track mind
_How did you find me _
_Will morning sell your dream _
Midnight drifter
Moonlight whisperer
Call me back
Remind me of who I am
Can you see my face
I feel you
Shall we give this journey a name
_Rolling clatter _
bustling whistler
Late night evening station kisser
_You were only but a train _
A piece of steel yet none the less
Without a name
You brought us both together
May our hearts remain forever
_I should call you in the night _
My old friend

Artist's Description

So large and powerful it had time and again brought us together.
Staring at the window late at night, could she wonder if I had been thinking of another woman.
Affections.
I heard its soul in the distance late one night and it reminded me of how I relied upon my car too much and how I could change my ways.
Well? …it was her idea to use it in the first place, and what a good idea it turned out to be.
