Artist's Description

Once in a Decade Falls Mounted Print

Wagga Wagga, Lake Albert, NSW, Australia. After a decade of drought, Lake Albert had been reduced to a very small, shallow lot of water in the middle. Heavy rains this year since April have seen the lake slowly fill to capacity. Then, two extremely heavy rain events (over a week or so) occurred twice last month. The second saw severe flooding in a number of small towns locally, millions of dollars worth of damage, and the Murrumbidgee River reach its highest level in over 10 years. Lake Albert ‘burst its banks’ – flooding the road cutting off access around the Lake, but also filled the ‘overflow’ – hence, the ‘once in a decade falls’.
