ABOUT THIS IMAGE
I discovered this fungus growing on the side of a Eucalypt stump in my backyard at Denhams Beach,
New South Wales, Australia
in March 2013. I have never come across one like it before and in spite
of hours of internet searching, I was not able to identify it. My thanks to Carla for identifying Boletus
emodensis
.

The circular shape is similar to that of a mushroom, with a 6cm diameter across the pink rough looking
textured cap. The undersurface is bright yellow, with a “sponge like” appearance. The stem has a
diameter of about 1.5cm and is a little longer than the diameter of the cap.
