Long Term Memories

When I am finished

Wrap me in white linen and
send me on a one-way cruise
to the middle of blue nowhere
plop me in the ocean
where the fishes feed
For one final swim
I will be
the ultimate me

Lay me over
flames of purification
and portion out the ashes
to anyone who wants
To family here and
friends over there
Sprinkle them in the
warm summer wind
and don’t worry or wait
to see where I fall

Bury me under
a young oak tree
One that will live
for two thousand years
By then the tears
will be cycled
through the roots
and leaves of that
Great Grandfather tree

And just one more thing,

Don’t forget to visit me
every now and then
at night when you dream

I’ll be in the air
when you breathe

Goodnight Love
