The concept for this image started out as a fancily carved wooden pencil box, but since almost nobody alive today remembers using pencil boxes, I decided to instead design a novel remote control where one inserts a stylus (plural, styli) into various holes to select channels or perform functions like DVR recordings. The idea of the stylus is that it could function like a computer flash drive, “remembering” program commands that might be downloaded from a computer, or a handheld device that runs special Apps (applications) to simplify such program commands. Alternatively, the stylus might actually hold the data of a downloaded movie (such as from Netflix) that could then be “streamed” through the remote to the video device (TV).

If nothing else, a box like this with a bunch of holes could be useful for holding all the styli shown in the youtube video below. If so, the “pencil box” could make a comeback! :o)))

Created initially in Mandelbulb3D v1.8, starting from parameters in Amnesia by Theli-at

Sections from various color maps were combined in GIMP v2.8 to create this image, which is related to a previously posted image shown below. Best if viewed larger.
