Down town St. Louis, Missouri, USA. The Gateway arch, a 630 foot tall national monument, frames the Old Court House where the famous Dred Scott V. Sanford slavery case was held. This is looking across the Mississippi River from the state of Illinois.
Until this year there was no place where you could take this image unless you were on the river. Last month they opened a new park in Illinois with an observation platform that lets you get high enough to shoot the St. Louis skyline over all the obstructions along the river.
It is impossible to get a clear image in St. Louis during the summer because of the heat haze unless you are there right after a rain shower.
The observation platform in the Illinois park seen from inside the arch 630 feet high.
