Artist's Description

The bridge is named after Bill Emerson, a Missouri politician who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 until his death in 1996.

*It is a cable-stayed suspension bridge crossing the Mississippi River on Missouri Hwy 34 changing to Illinois Route 146 in the center of the bridge. The bridge is 3,955 feet (1,205 m) long with the longest suspension span being 1,149 feet (350 m) with a height from the river below of 60 feet (18 m) It opened on December 13, 2003.
