Artist's Description

A closeup view of a sundew (Drosera sp) flower with it’s sticky drops to entice small insects. A carnivorous plant, it lures, captures and digests insects using the stalked mucilaginous glands covering the leaf surface. The insects are used to supplement the poor mineral nutrition of the soil in which they grow. Taken at Mylor Conservation Park in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, June 2012. Canon 7D, Canon 60mm macro lens, ringflash, hand held.
