I STAND. . .

I stand before you and raise my hand.

A vow to all.
I will lead.
I will take the first blow of their vicious clubs
The first sling of their arrows
The first shot from their unanimous guns

I will give my life for my people who have suffered so long
Their life too precious
And though mine is as well
I give it willingly to protect theirs.

So, I confront you
You men of evil
You slave masters
You warmongers
You dishonest moneychangers
You men of ill will
Who feed off my people

They are weary
Hungry
Naked
Hopeless
With no place to lay their head

I comfort them
And I confront you
I block your advance
So that they will live
And suffer no more

I am ready
My spirit is strong
I am prepared for battle.
