Artist's Description

This little American tree sparrow looks very similar to the chipping sparrow that we see in the summer months, but it has a bi-color beak and the line through the eye is rufous instead of the black line that the chipping sparrows have. The American tree sparrows breed up north in the tundra and boreal forests during the summer and their winter range is throughout most of the U.S. except for the deep south.
