Not Not There

Heard the drums last night
Distracted by dreams in a rusted tint
Wondering about since I lost my fruit
If I could still tell the stories
Of the places I had been
If only in dreams
There it goes
A fleeting moment of insanity
Prescribed by an expert slowly poisoned by vanity
An excuse in its own way
Now I’m starting to enjoy
This old lady’s cackle
And her constant talking of how the world was
When she still had cards to play
She said you never know who’s being honest
And you never see the knife you feel
When it’s sunk into your back
But for now it doesn’t bother
Because we forgot one another
While forgiving each other
When we parted
Once upon a flamingo day

Not Not There
