Design, Love, & Other Nonsense

Hey guys,

I decided to take up the special Redbubble/Blurb offer and put together a 60 page mini folio of my personal works spanning the last 5 years. After completing it, I was kind of humbled in the fact that I was able to fill the whole 60 pages with work that I am proud of. Since this is what I love to do, then hopefully there’ll be many and more pieces to come in the future.

Hope you like it.

Death of Star Wars parody designs?

Today I had a take down notice from Redbubble for my “Trap!” t-shirt (see below) requested directly from Lucas Films. Does this not fall into the ‘parody’ category? Do they have the right to call foul on my design, given that its a pretty basic (and poor) drawing that only roughly resembles one of their characters? It could be any amphibious looking Alien creature, really……

There are sooooooo many Star Wars related designs on the site, and not just on Redbubble… Star Wars parodies are everywhere, the majority of which are much closer to the copyrighted material than my crappy drawing is… Are they going after the whole internet?

Should I kick up a fuss? I don’t think i’ve even sold one of these, and it was just a drawing for my girl friend, so i don’t really mind if it goes down, it just bo

What happened to you RB, you used to be cool...

Start of rant.…

So i’ve been with RB since ‘07. In my time here, i’ve been tremendously inspired, met some amazing people, been pushed to develop and hone my craft, and bought many ‘a sweet t-shirt. However, I don’t know if its just me, but this place has changed in a HUGE and mostly negative way ever since the site had its major overhaul and redesign 18 months ago (or whenever it was).

What is extremely frustrating for me is that my drive to push myself here has totally gone since the restructuring. If I wasn’t designing a shirt for a challenge in the T-Shirt Revolution group, then i’d be trying to design something that was strong enough to be considered for the featured t-shirt section, which i considered a huge honour to be selected for.

AT5 book cover and logo mock up. Thoughts?

Hey guys, if you have a moment, i’d love to hear some thoughts on a design i’m working on. This year i’d like to put together a book/magazine/folio type thing as a self promotional piece. I hate putting traditional folios together, so i wanted to do something a bit nicer and more… self indulgent, maybe?… lol.

Anyway, I’ve come up with a name. ‘AT5’. This name represents my initials, AT, as well as the 5 years of industry and personal work i plan to represent in the book. To add an extra layer, if you sound out ‘A-T-5’, it sounds like ‘Eighty Five’, which is the year of my birth. So yeah, something quite personal.

It’s early days yet, i’m giving myself plenty of time to put this thing together, but yeah, would love some thoughts on the logo i’m playing around with.

Au revoir!

Hey guys. Just a quick note to let you all know that I am heading to Europe tonight for 3 months! I’m pretty excited, i’ve been planning this trip for some time now! As much as i love designing t-shirts, I can’t imagine i’ll have much time to add any new works while i’m on my trip. However, I’ve started up a Tumblr blog so that i can upload photos from my trip for friends and family to follow.

If you’re interested in keeping up to date with my European adventures, you can follow my blog at:

I’m going to try to keep the blog design and art orientated, as i’m sure i’ll be visiting many beautiful and inspiring places.

Cheers guys! Peace.

Hey guys,

I’ve been commissioned to design a tee for a start up US fashion label called ‘Young & Broke’. Here’s the design at the moment, it’s still a work in progress, so i’d love to get some feedback…

They didn’t give me much of a brief, they just wanted it to feature an owl. I decided to base my design on a lyric from a song, the lyric being ‘shadow am i?’. I wanted the piece to be pretty simple and moody.

I’m pretty happy with how it’s looking so far, but i’d love to get more people’s opinions. I welcome constructive criticism!

Updates all round!

Hi everyone.

Just to let you know that i’ve been very busy today working on revamping my redbubble profile page, my facebook fan page, and my twitter page.

I’d love for you to take a look and let me know what you think. Feel free to follow me on twitter (i’m very new there), or become a fan on facebook. I’m trying to maximise my exposure at the moment, so any assistance from all you lovely people would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the links: Facebook fan page and my Twitter page.

Ps. I’ve almost finished my new folio website, so i’ll be letting you know about that pretty soon :D

A Positive Post

Hello all!

Just wanted to share my entry to the Positive Posters competition with you. I’m very keen to hear some feedback, and I encourage everyone to check out the competition for yourselves. It’s free to enter (or you can donate as you enter), the theme is ‘A Glass Half Full’, and you can win some gnarly prizes!

I designed this poster with the notion of ‘it’s a matter of perspective’ in mind. I wanted to create an abstract shape that could be viewed from multiple perspectives. The idea of there being no correct way to view the shape, it being up to you to decide how it should be viewed, to decide which perspective is best. A glass is only half empty if you choose to view it that way; change your perspective and view things in a positive light.

Enjoy :)

Feedback required for new branding

Hello all! I’m in the process of putting a new folio and website together for myself, so i decided i’d come up with a new brand as well.

My new website, much like my old one , is going to be quite minimal and clean, so i wanted to create a brand that would sit well in this kind of setting.

The brand i’ve designed uses a set of letter forms i created myself.

I’d love to hear some feedback on the design, as i’m not totally sold on it yet.

Constructive criticism is welcome!

Cheers guys.
