what have you found
that gives you no doubts
is it the the nursery rhymes
your mother
used to read to you
or rather
the bouncy sing song
of her lilac voice
her sweet smell
and I love you eyes
how she left
the night light on
to frighten the boogeyman
away…
well
enough of that
now you’re grown
and she is gone
you become her
and she becomes…
the hope
that some way, some how
she is somewhere
making snow angels
and all this
caught in between
pouncing ice pellets
and slick freezing rain
where there are no spaces to
take cover
is just
what is falling
from the grace
of her calling you…
home
there is no shelter
from a storm
that rages within
realization is easy
acceptance…
a slow process
but you
and your faith
sustain you
we are all so fragile
I fall apart
what have you found
that gives you no doubts
we all have our own storms…raging. and we do our best to find shelter, in our own way. may yours be few and far between. xxx

Shelters protect a small portion and are never permanent. My mother is my balance. Without her blood that runs through my veins I would be forever in the rain. She was the embodiment of strength and grace. What I found was my own mortality. Realizing how short this life is and the reality that I can chose to live it out in peace my way or strife in anothers way. I am not trying to simplify anything. Decisions have to be made one way or the other. Otherwise I had to find peace or an existence among the strife. To continue to offer up resistance was making me crazy and so sad most of the time. I chose happiness……….Love you Shar. xoxoxoxoxox

I’m sitting here feeling more than a bit silly with tears streaming down my face. Your beautiful words painted a powerful image of Mom making snow angels… which would be so like my mom. We just marked the sixth anniversary of Mom’s death on February 19. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss her. Thank you, my friend, for a beautiful moment with her memory.
sorry to bring tears to your eyes dear Greg, but nothing to feel silly about for anyone who has loved and lost a parent. sorry it is so close to that sad anniversary, though it has been a bit longer for me, I still have a difficult time on that day myself. thank you for sharing with me something so personal, and I am glad it brought a beautiful memory of her to mind for you. warmest hugs, shar xoxoxoxoxoxxoxo
