I have always been artistic, drawing and painting from an early age. I developed a love of photography at school watching the prints magically appear in the dark room. The digital camera has allowed me to explore my creativity without becoming too technical. I am forever learning and striving to capture the essence of the subject matter. I love watching people’s reactions to my work, seeing if I’ve communicated my message effectively.

I have dabbled in many subject areas; landscape, people, sport, photojournalism, flora and fauna. My preference is for the innate beauty found in nature. I am drawn to quiet places where I can reflect, relax and let my work flow instinctively. As Bill Moyers once said, “Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvelous.” I strive to do this in my work. I do both Black and white and colour as each medium can enhance the message I am trying to convey in different ways. I want to evoke emotions in the viewer.

My current work is inspired by the peaceful and beautiful place that I live, the Blue Mountains. My intention is to investigate and capture tranquil scenes through the use of angles, space, lines and light. I am often amazed at the shapes and forms of nature that appear in my images. I want to share my love of nature in my art. I have done my job if these images convey a sense of serenity.
