Artist's Description

View from Seacliff Beach over to Bass Rock, near Tantallon castle in North Berwick, Scotland. Bass Rock is home to the largest ‘single rock’ colony of northern gannets in the world and has been described by Sir David Attenborough as ’one of the 12 wildlife wonders of the world. The island has three sides of sheer cliff rising 313ft, and a tunnel piercing the rock to a depth of 105 metres. The gentler slope to the south forms a lower promontory where the ruins of a castle stand dating back to at least 1405. It has an amazing history and you can read more about it here: http://www.northberwick.org.uk/bass.html
