Artist's Description

The skyline of Buffalo, NY, taken from distant Hamburg Town Park. I turned it into a fantasy in blue to honor the upcoming Labatt’s pond hockey tournament which draws teams from New York State, Pennsylvania, New England & other hockey-loving spots & is a Major Event in these parts. Held on Buffalo’s beautiful waterfront, the tourney boasts many rinks built on the ice of Lake Erie near the mouth of the Niagara River. This year, to ensure smooth ice (assuming the weather cooperates), the organizers have decided to pump water from the depths rather than use the warmer, treated water that comes from the hydrants they’ve used in the past. Good plan? Who knows, but there’s logic to it. Pond hockey ~ where it all began.
