Artist's Description

A fine African Spotted Eagle Owl (not to be confused with the much larger African Eagle Owl, sans Spots) surveys the scene in the Ettington Park Hotel grounds, Alderminster, Warwickshire. This fine specimen actually said ‘Who’ in no uncertain terms. It was a declarative remark, not an interrogative. And there was no fudging; it was just WHO. Full stop. This owl was part of a Birds of Prey exhibition held at the hotel. Others included: Turkey Vulture, Buzzard, Kestrel, Merlin, Perlin (cross between a Peregrine Falcon & a Merlin), & a pair of spectacular Harris Hawks. The exhibition had been arranged as a gift to guests who were celebrating their Golden Wedding at the hotel. We left for a day’s jaunt before the festivities began, but we learned later that the gentleman got a chunk taken out of him by the Buzzard. No permanent harm done, but kind of a buzz-kill, to coin a phrase. No, they did not dispose of the bird.
