My name is Neil G Smith and I was born in East Kilbride in 1970. Drawing at a very early age was great fun for me. I would write short stories and create comics on any available scrap paper.

Growing up with The Beano and then 2000 AD, I remember thinking the artwork in these comics was something very special. This influenced my own style and technique. My work is a combination of Fine Art and Cartoons, hence the word Arttoon.

After Completing my studies at School I then continued with a course in Graphic Design supplemented with classes at Glasgow School of Art and then graduating in 1990.

In 1996 I embarked on a touring exhibition around Scotland which visited my favourite location Oban. Many of my first Arttoons were created using soft pastel. You can see an example in the picture, The Sesh. At the Oban exhibition an unlikely hero was born Tartan Tuffy. You can read about Tuffy in 8 illustrated books, written and illustrated by myself. I went on to have work published by The Beano in 2000 and 2002.

With more time to pursue being creative I have been able to rejuvenate my Art Career. During 2010 I attended many live events where I sat and drew Portraits. I found this activity very fulfilling. I have also painted a series of exciting New Arttoons using Acrylic.

I am proud to have my work featured in RedBubble. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did creating.
