Artist's Description

I can trace my love of lupins back to one of my very first holidays in Hemsby in Norfolk, England. We used to walk down a lane to get to the beach. Somewhere along the lane there was a lovely pink and yellow lupin. It must have impressed me if I can still remember it over 45 years later. My dad grew some in our garden and when I had a garden of my own, lupins were one of the first plants I put in it. When I moved to Sweden, many years later, I was amazed to find that lupins grew wild, just about anywhere. Of course I have lots in my garden, but these lupins in my photograph, were growing wild in an area of meadow land. Caught in the late afternoon sun, they looked wonderful. I love lupins, but people here have a total disregard for them and a few days ago, I read an article in the local newspaper confirming that. The story was about how terrible it was that lupins had been allowed to grow on roadsides, making it hard for other wild flowers to grow.
