Oh, America

I’ve climbed the Rocky Mountains
And lived from sea to sea
It’s the people who make this country
Each one means so much to me

I’ve seen men die for our cause
I’ve seen them salute our flag
I’ve felt the pain in childrens’ hearts
When they learn their daddy died

It isn’t an easy life, you see,
That you promise to the world
But I still get chills singing our song
And watching our flag unfurl

Oh, America
You’ve been so good to me
Even though I chose a hard road
There’s no better place to be
For all your imperfections
I love your land and sea
You give me hope under God above
You’re a lovely place to be

I’ve seen twisters wreck Nebraska
I’ve watched earthquakes hit the west
I’ve seen terror in New York City
No other country came to assist

They say compassion is a virtue
God taught us to help fellow man
Each time I see you volunteer
It makes me proud of who I am

Oh, America
You’ve been so good to me
Even though I chose a hard road
There’s no better place to be
For all your imperfections
I love your land and sea
You give me hope under God above
You’re a lovely place to be

So now I must get back to work
Song writing isn’t what I do
I just took this time to say thanks
And express my love to you

I’ll never be able to repay you
For all you’ve given me
How could I repay you for such a place
It’s an amazing land to see

Oh, America
You’ve been so good to me
Even though I chose a hard road
There’s no better place to be
For all your imperfections
I love your land and sea
You give me hope under God above
You’re a lovely place to be

Destiny may be written in the heavens
But it’s played out beneath the stars
So stand tall against the darkness
That wants to cover all

As you light the way for the world
Don’t forget those who may be sad
I’d gladly lay down my life for you
Like other men and my dad

Oh, America
You’ve been so good to me
Even though I chose a hard road
There’s no better place to be
For all your imperfections
I love your land and sea
You give me hope under God above
You’re a lovely place to me
Yes, you’re a lovely place, to me

Oh, America

Artist's Description

When America stands up for what is right in this world, it’s often met with jeers and nay-sayers. But it stands up nevertheless.
