It seems to me you were searchin’
Looking for a place to land
It’s a cold world out there, I know that my friend,
Sometimes you gotta take a stand

Long nights in the city
In a one light low rent room
Nobody cares, I’ve been there myself
It’s as lonely as the man in the moon

There is plenty goin’ down in downtown
Enough to keep you off the streets
The drugs and gangs are a danger, my firend
Like you, I don’t feel at-ease

Looking for a meal after nightfall
Can consume your en-tire life
I know they got you, I saw what they did
They beat me like that one night

Violence only breeds more violence
This you already know
So don’t do it tonight, I’ve see it before
You don’t need to even the score

A bullet will end a lifetime
Whether it’s you or somebody else
You know that it will, we’ve seen it before
You don’t want to spend life in the cells

Don’t go out on the streets tonight
They’re probably lookin’ for you
You need some time, I can see that my friend
To reflect on what you should do

A lifetime filled with mis-er-y
Is not where you want to be
It goes by too fast, I’m proof of that
I have insight that you can’t see

Quentin is a place where you can think
Or you can reflect here in this room
The difference my friend, I know what I say
Is the line between me and you

I once beat a man in Reno
He was messin’ with my drunkin’ head
He deserved what he got, but I’ll never forget
What it was like to see a man dead

A big part of me died along with that man
We were both only twenty-three
The difference my friend, is that I got life
And he got e-tern-i-ty

We’re not as brave as we think we are
When it comes to creatin’ pain
Time can drag by, I know what I say
And what do we really gain?

It’s time to put an end to this scene
You can make your contribution tonight
Put down the gun, I’ve been here before
I can tell you it will be all right

Violence is Medusa waiting for you
It’s the devil in the guise of revenge
You may enjoy the act, but the fate of your soul
Is forever to Hell condemned

Now that you made your decision
I hope you grow older in life
Now let’s settle down, I know what I say
Be done with it to-night

Long nights in the city
In a one light low rent room
Nobody cares, I’ve been there myself
It’s as lonely as the man in the moon

It seems to me you were searchin’
Looking for a place to land
It’s a cold world out there, I know that my friend,
Sometimes you gotta take a stand
Sometimes you gotta take a stand
