Commuter man walks
With death in hand
Earning a paycheck
Life is grand

Commuter man sees
His life pass by
His family grows
He just sighs

We blink one day and we’re 24
The promise is there’s so much more
About the time we’re 65
Someone says we must retire
Alone on hills throughout the ages
Whispering winds turn the pages
In the book of me and you –
What am I to do?

Commuter man smiles
As blocks roll by
It’s dark outside
Starlight sky

Commuter man’s home
But no one’s there
We all went out
To the fair

We blink one day and we’re 24
The promise is there’s so much more
About the time we’re 65
Someone says we must retire
Alone on hills throughout the ages
Whispering winds turn the pages
In the book of me and you –
What am I to do?

Commuter man walks
With death in hand
Earning a paycheck
Life is grand

Commuter man sees
His life pass by
His family grows
He just sighs

We blink one day and we’re 24
The promise is there’s so much more
About the time we’re 65
Someone says we must retire
Alone on hills throughout the ages
Whispering winds turn the pages
In the book of me and you –
What am I to do?
