Artist's Description

If you’ve ever taken a long trail ride, or ridden the fence line, you know the feeling of coming home. You will ride all night long just to get there. Many have asked me, “where is this?” as if I painted it in one particular place. The truthful answer is it is a combination of Montana, Nevada, and California. I was raised in summers in Montana, and have many ranching images of that area dancing through my head and into my work. As a boy, I was raised the rest of the year in California, which also has a large ranching community, memories of which also contribute to my work. And finally, as a young man out of college, I lived on a ranch in Nevada, which added to my memories, and to my art. So I don’t know what to tell people who want to know where this is. I suppose the answer is that is that it is in all three places. Ranchers and farmers in Montana, Nevada, and California – as do all of us – share the experience of “coming home.” Featured in the Montana group. Acrylic and spray paint. © Ed Moore.
