My fish well done, my freedom done well

Ever since 3 and a half years ago, when my wife and I bought a farm, I’ve been looking for a snake in the grass, petrified as this city boy is of them.
I was alert also, when the new administration took over. I thought the snake in that grass would be Bill, but he’s been quiet. Either Hillary put the lid on him or sociopath that he is, he can’t outshine Mr Obama, try as he may. Then I began a 4 month battle with all 3 of my credit card banks. They are 3 of the big ones of course. All 3 have done things that if it were you or I doing them, we would be before a judge. Somehow, they do these horrible things to “all” custumers with impunity, so far. Unless you want to invoke the “it’s in the small print” card.
After the 3 battles with these giants of credit who send you and I notes nearly every week about how they want to make things easier for us, I was left wiser, but very angry none the less. So I wrote to my senator, as I promised “the big three” that I would. By the way, in all three wars, (lots of casualties here, I assure you), I prevailed, which means I got them to “undo” the credit crime they tried and which the shouldn’t have had. How much merit do they deserve for that, I ask, madam senator? and I was left, as all surviving warriors are, wise, proud, and exhausted, but, with clear understanding. Those are your snakes in the grass right now. You see, before they raised our interest from 6.9% to 29.9 %, we used to go out to dinner to a fairly nice restaurant every now and so, Sometimes I would even buy my wife flowers. With payments increasingly higher, no more nice restaurants, which in my opinion and I hope I’m not being a drama queen here, robs us of some freedoms, small as they may be. Recently, however, we went to a, shall we say, budget one. It has servers, which creates the impression that we are being served, which we are.
I said to the server girl, a bright looking young thing who is going to college no doubt, hopefully to study one of the sciences. “I want my fish well done and my freedom done well”. She replied, quick to the draw, " I can take care of the fish and I wish you luck with your freedom, sir" . OK, she’s to be in a liberal arts program. The point is, I haven’t heard from my senator and the one I was rooting for, senator Dodd is so compromised he’s probably a bigger crook than my 3 financial Talibans. Specially now that the big credit Mullahs have entrenched.
I’m not staying up waiting for a letter from my senator, she’s busy, posturing for the cameras and I really don’t know my next step. I mentioned the name of a fast food Mexican joint to my wife as probable candidate for our next outing. She hasn’t spoken to me since. I wonder if, in view of the economy, 5 star restaurants have chi chi coupons in the Penny Saver
