Artist's Description

With a 22 X 18 400 weight cold press paper I drew and scribed the illusion of the USS Wyoming, a Nuclear Polaris submarine. From a image of the conning Tower, high lighted with the rising Sun taken from the stern of the surfaced Sub. It was entering its home base Kings Bay GA. after completing its tour of six months under the Sea.
Taking minerals I had ground in a Motor and Pestle made of marble to a talcum texture. Those minerals were, Azurite, Mica, Malachite, Realgar, Limonite (Ocher and Burnt Umber), Carbon Coal, Hematite, and Gypsum Crystals.
Blending and grinding the minerals into the fibers of the paper I created this illusion of the USS Wyoming, in a display of minerals to amazes even myself.
A Friend of mine for the last forty some odd years, requested I do this work to Honor his son who was a plank owner ( one who was aboard when the naval ship was launched and commissioned) and spent six years aboard.
It now hangs on the wall behind the gentleman’s office Desk.
Enjoy this work of minerals art as much as it pleased me to complete the work
