Artist's Description

On a 400 weight cold press paper, I drew the General Grant from the very base of the giant sequoia in Kings National Park just North of Giant Forest where General Sherman and Washington giant sequoia’s are located in the sierras of California. Then taking a orange stick I scribed the drawing, erasing the drawing and and started grinding minerals ( Azurite, Limonite( ocher and Burnt Umber) , Realgar, Mica, Marcasite, Carbon coal , Gypsum Crystals, and Hematite) grinding them into the fibers of the heavy cold press paper with my Sediment Stone( a flat stone taken from the Pacific Ocean that had once been the inland Sea of the Valley that runs from San Francisco to the Ridge of the Mojave mountains) I receive the scribed image that I left when scribing the drawing. This allows you to work the surrounding areas of the drawing to be brought up to ,but not into the article which was drawn. It is not in my conceivable understanding why, it just does, as with the pictures that are brought forth while free grinding mineral onto works. The foliage, and tree texture is what the finger print of the paper give me after grinding into it. The tree was in my work area in the national park one of the National Parks I worked in for 26 years for AT&T on the Micro Wave sites used for the gov. communications lines.
It was made the National Christmas tree by Pres. Coolidge 1926, It is The General Grant Tree, one of the third largest Sequoias in the Parks.
In 1956 Pres. Eisenhower mad the Grant tree a national Shrine for all service men that have died in War, the only living such Shrine in the World.
joy the beauty of the minerals as they portray the wonders of nature with Gods natural creations.
