Artist's Description

A photo I took in October 1977 of the covered footbridge at Newport Bus Station (Newport Mon, Wales, UK) complete with litter and broken windows. This thing was probably constructed some time in the late 1960s out of concrete and prefabricated sections of bus shelter on a near monumental scale a testament to the worst aspects of cost cutting utilitarian modernity. It has since been demolished. Taken on Ilford FP4 125 ASA probably on a Zenith EM fitted with a 28mm Chinon lens. Scanned from the original vintage negative the image still has some minor dust, scratches and a faint craculature along with toothy film grain which all lends itself to the urban decay it depicts. An old power station and cement works can also be faintly seen in the distance.
