Field of Flowers

That field, the one right over there – see it?
I remember playing there, when it was all overgrown and brush
Made tunnels in the overgrowth, forts in the heat of summers hush
Then by the time we met, it had been cut down, did you know it?
They wanted to make it into a mall or somewhat, but no one bought
So it went back to disuse, but naked as it was, we had an awesome thought
You and I and your urban gorilla warfare bit
We seeded it through and through with wildflower seeds and fairy dust
Made love (like the ancient Romans—“let this ground be fertile”) with must
And hope and laughter and poking fun and years gone by now it
Is this fantastic field of flowers…
