I Suck at Writing

Writing is a passion
a love
an art.

Writing is a drug
a release
a bond.

You may suck at writing
but writing itself will keep you sound.

I suck at writing
Writing keeps my sanity
viewers help my self-esteem
comments help my confidence.

Without writing we would be lost.
Let’s face it.
Todays best myths have to be retold by a good author
because the original sucked at writing.

But writing kept that original going
and that writing is now enjoyed by many people, if only a different version.

When a writer,
even a bad writer,
sees that someone clicks and understands what their work is about
It leaves them with a feeling of accomplishment.

Writers write as they feel.
a simple view count
or a simple comment
can affect their next piece.

Though a writer may suck at writing
by viewing and commenting,
or at least by viewing,
you can and will make that writer feel a little better when they are down.

By not viewing or commenting,
or by making a harshly criticizing comment,
you can and will,
even if slightly,
drag that writer down a little.

A writer will not get better if he doesn’t have the will to write.
The worst writers are the ones who are never encouraged.
The best writers gain inspiration from encouragement.

Artist's Description

I thought about what someone once said in their journal here, the person will remain anonymous. They felt that they truly sucked at writing. After just a few encouraging comments is next piece was a masterful work of art. This got me to thinking: my writing tends to be affected the same way. And so is my friends. And my friends friends. My conclusion is it affects every writer. Just something to keep in mind when you have it in your head that “this guy really can’t write at all.”

Now that’s not to say don’t criticize them cuz God knows if you don’t they could embarrass themselves on national television. Just look at American Idol. If someone had given some of those people a little criticism they might not have ended in tears. But if no encouragement had been given they really would have sucked even more due to lack of confidence.
