Artist's Description

I miss you Freddie …I really do!!

You filled so many of my lonely hours with your graceful … silent swimming presence…… We eventually began to understand each other well. You would place your snout against the wall of your room – staring at your reflection …. forever wondering why you looked like you…… why blue was blue and why outside was dry. I would place my hand ever so gently against the globed wall of your haven and you would suspiciously swim close by …. pretending not to notice … yet…. you knew I was there. And Annie was so sure you would get all frisky and excited every time you recognized her blurry form from your side of the tank. She thought that was a connection with you …… as you had initially livid in at her office for a year before you decided to retire.

I’m sorry if you were ever traumatized when getting a change of water in your tank. I may have been sloppy at times …. maybe placed the tank down too abrubptly causing a sonic boom inside the tank….. DHONGGGGGGGG . But you knew that was not intentional …..you knew I would never hurt you.

I hope you enjoyed the colored fish flake morsels I fed you every day …. although …. I always suspected you were eating too much and had put on weight. I did not mind as I wanted you to be healthy and strong and most of all content and happy.

And then there were times you would dance like a wild flash of electric blue … waving your graceful tail with purposeful intention ….. just swimming round and round and round l;ike crazy …. chasing your reflection …. playing your invented games of chase the cat…….

I’d watch, I’d marvel at your beautiful spirit. I would thank your Creator for having spent such precious time in creating you….. in giving you this beautiful spirit. I know I was so fortunate to have you in my life.

I am sorry if I killed your spirit in any way and maybe turned the lights off too soon in the living room at night. But again …. you knew …I only wanted you to rest awhile till the morning light found its way into your world all over again.

In your passin I have lost your presence but your memory remains a larger part of my life.

I miss you …. and thank you!

Freddie was my pet BETA fish whom I lost last year. I found this beautiful image in the archives and decided I would celebrate his passing of one year by talking about him.

Whew …. its a big responsibility taking care of any pet …. being responsible for their sustenance and well being and safety.

Hats off to all of you who care for another living entity.
