The Ger (or Yurt) is the home of choice for the nomads of the Gobi, Mongolia . Warm enough to survive the blisteringly cold winters (if you’re as hardy as they are that is) and light enough to disassemble and move on the back of a horse or Yak drawn cart.
This shot was one of the best that typifies the solitude that comes with life as a nomadic herder. A simple, hard-working way of life which rewards them with a close family and cosy enjoyable nights telling stories and jokes around the heater. It doesn’t sound so bad does it as I sit here in the big city not even knowing my neighbour’s name?
